Welcome Message from Mr. Smith – Director of Bands

Hello and welcome to a brand-new year of music, growth, and excellence in the Freeport Area Band Program!

I’m Mr. Smith, and I’m honored to serve as the 6–12 Band Director. At the high school level, our program includes the 9/10 Band, 11/12 Band, Jazz Bands, Marching Band, Pit Orchestra, and, of course, the pride of Freeport Area Senior High School — the Freeport Area Yellow Jacket Marching Band!

Our band department takes great pride in the quality of performances we deliver throughout the year. From halftime shows and concerts to jazz nights and musical productions, each ensemble plays an important role in shaping our musical identity and bringing joy to our community. Every performance is a reflection of our commitment, teamwork, and passion for music.

With that in mind, we hold ourselves to the highest of standards — not just musically, but in how we represent our school, our families, and each other. Every student in this program is an important part of something bigger, and together, we strive to make every note, every rehearsal, and every performance count.
